Weather Notes
After one of the warmest Decembers in memory,
January and February develop some steady deep cold
with a good snow blanket. It came gradually into the zero range.
Studies hope to show how many buds and canes survive both
cold and desiccation from cold dry winds. With steady cold below
freezing with high winds for three weeks or more the vines need
short periods above freezing to re-hydrate their wood and buds.
Vines need time to take a breath.
Cross-country skiing has been fabulous and forecasts look
good for the next week or more,.
Valentines Day
For gifts to special friends, wine stays a steady favorite.
Because of the cold weather shipping will wait for temperature
forecasts in the twenties and a window opens for safe shipping.
Monday & Tuesday look okay now.
Fan Club wines will go out in the same weather window.
They are:
'04 Chardonnay Reserve Lot 0461 and
'01 Cabernet Sauvignon Sel Res Lot 013 carry the quaalities needed for Feb 14.

Vint”age” Tasting 7:00PM - 9:00 PM
Saturday February 17, 2007
Ohio Wine Tours and Markko Vineyard have designed an evening to help you explore how Lake Erie wines mature and age. Dusting off wines 10 to 20 years old offers an insight of what you can expect by holding your vintages for a decade or more. Gourmet foods will compliment this candlelit tasting into the past. Come for an evening to sip, to share aged vintages and to see what the future may hold for your North Coast wines.
Seating is limited. Dress casual and bring your favorite "toast "to share
Cost of this event is $80.00 p.p or $150.00 per couple, and includes wine, and food.
