Winter Arrives - It's Here
Snow and normal January temperature brings back winter hardiness
for the vines and keeps them dormant - more ready to stand an arctic
blast. Spot checks for bud damage early this month looked normal at 10%.
Cross country skiing the last three days was excellent and forecasts for
steady cold with light snows continued into February.
Barrel and tank samples of vintage '06 show good fruit character and acidity which promise nice qualities as these new wines mature. Hopes rest in true expression of terrior - that essence of soil and climate one finds in estate bottled growths. Always the winegrowers challenge, find the right combination from vine, clone and root, to wine, tank, barrel and bottle from each vineyard plot and trellis. Each wine is different, none the same. Yours to enjoy.
